Red's beloved toy is his squeezy tennis ball—it's his absolute favorite! His top spot is Arks Park, where he enjoys romping around with other dogs, taking refreshing swims in the dam, and persuading everyone to play fetch with his ball. Yep, you guessed it, he's utterly fixated on that ball. He's also a big fan of car rides; the moment he spots me reaching for my car keys, he's already waiting by the car. Red adores cuddles; he'd do anything for a good snuggle session. And when it comes to treats, he can't resist biltong and liver bread.
With over 15 years of experience training dogs, I've always been drawn to Detection/Scentwork, Mantrailing, and search and rescue. I've earned qualifications from reputable institutions such as SOCS (School of Canine Science), IMDT (International Modern Dog Trainers), and Tactical K9 SA. Additionally, I'm a certified missing Pet Detective, completing my training through MARN (Missing Animal Response Network) under Kat Albrecht.
A few years back, I was approached to assist in locating a missing pet. During that time, I was working alongside my former explosive detection dog, K9 Khaos, a Dutch Shepherd. Despite K9 Khaos's advancing age, we achieved several successful finds. However, as K9 Khaos reached retirement age, I began searching for a new partner. That's when I met K9 Red from Tactical K9 South Africa. Originally trained for antipoaching purposes, I couldn't resist bringing Red home with me.
From the start of his training, Red impressed me with his incredible drive, gentle demeanor, and eagerness to locate missing pets. We've formed a strong bond, and I'm continuously amazed by his dedication to helping others. 😊
